Finding The Perfect Rug

I didn’t know how frustrating it is looking for the perfect rug for your space until my partner and I decided that we needed a rug to not only help protect the hardwood floors in our living space, but to also add that final touch we have been looking for overall. We have very different tastes, with mine ranging from a more traditional looking rug/more bohemian, cozy feel and his being more modern/simple designs.

We spent countless hours browsing online stores until we came across Ruggable. Their selection is quite different from what we have encountered – not to mention that they have collaborations ranging from Disney to Iris Apfel. We absolutely loved quite a few of them, and the hard part now became how we were going to narrow our favorites down.

We both appreciate art, so seeing that Ruggable has a collaboration with Keith Haring was perfect! Keith Haring’s artwork is iconic, and having a fun piece of art in the form of a rug to commemorate his work was just what we needed.

We decided on going with the 8×10 flatwoven standard Freestyle Slate Green rug. Everything else in our living room is quite neutral, so we figured that the green would give the room some life (and it’s also my partner’s favorite color). I was worried that the freestyle design would look be a little too intricate, but seeing it in person and out in our space really changed my mind. The fact that the rug itself is spill proof and washable made our decision even easier – because you may never know when accidents happen!

Setting Up The Rug

The rug came to us pretty quickly after ordering (within a week). Below is what the rug looked like when it arrived in the packaging.

We also opted to have the rug pads sent to us, and being that this is quite a large rug, there were two pads which we needed to align and make sure it was perfect so that we can put the rug on top. I would say the hardest part of this was aligning the rug to the pad and making sure it was perfectly flat – I found that the rug attached itself to the pad right away, and I had to lift/realign it a few times to get it just right and make sure there were no creases.

Once the hard part of aligning the rug and moving the couch back in to place was over, we could step back and appreciate our new piece! I found that the green isn’t as vibrant as it is pictured on the website- I actually feel like it’s more of a muted green/gray color (depending on lighting) but I am not mad at it at all; it still looks great in my opinion.

So far, I am loving our new rug. I can’t speak on durability or ease of washing just yet, but time will tell. I can say, if you are looking for a statement piece, this one might be it! You can find the Ruggable x Keith Haring collaboration page here.
